Fun Friday Photo – Pencils Bring Joy?

India: Orphans and Vulnerable Children receive school supplies from Bright Hope

I remember taking this picture so well.  I asked the children what they were excited about receiving from their Hope Packs, and they held up their pencils.  “Pencils”, I said, “No Way!” and they all shouted back “YEEAAAHHHH”.   A moment I’ll never forget!

  1. How could you look at that picture and all those bright smiles and not feel joy? Oh that we in this part of the world could be that happy and enthused over a few pencils – things we simply take for granted. Thanks for sharing the photo.

    • I want to show my children this picture all the time and say, “see, you don’t need that video game, candy, or whatever to make you happy… you just need a pencil”. But I know it wouldn’t work. 🙂
